(September 2014) Herndon, VA – MOSIMTEC Principal Simulation Engineer, Amy Brown Greer, participated in the PE exam development meeting in Atlanta, GA on September 18, 2014 – September 20, 2014. Ms. Greer’s role included pre-testing future exam items, along with developing and reviewing new items related to the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) specifications for professional licensure in the industrial discipline.

The PE (professional engineering) license is a rigorous licensure process to ensure the protection of life and property by those practicing engineering. According to Ms. Greer, “Participating in the PE review committee was an honor and wonderful continuing education experience. As a team, we got to think about the best ways to evaluate an Industrial Engineer’s skill set to ensure they are serving their ultimate purpose of making the world a better place through good IE practices.

The 2 day meeting also included discussions regarding how to promote professional engineering licensure within the Industrial Engineering community. “The Value of being a licensed professional engineer is most important in today’s flat, global, ever changing world environment,“ stated Dr. Joe Michels, one of the co-chairs of the industrial discipline exam committee.
