Glenwood Management and CarbonQuest (CQ) recently announced usage of a new carbon capture technology in five NYC buildings. The installation is designed to prevent up to 5,000 tons of carbon emissions per year.
Through CQ’s emission reduction process, CO2 is captured from building flue exhaust before becoming a greenhouse gas. After initial capture, the CO2 undergoes a multi-stage process that produces a liquid CO2 stored in a bulk tank, which is then sold to other companies focusing on carbon utilization/sequestration, including those that use carbon in concrete and concrete aggregates manufacturing. The building sector is a major contributor to climate change. New York City’s Local Law 97 will begin to penalize buildings based on their CO2 emissions in 2024.
