Last mile delivery is the last stage in the delivery process i.e. the transport of goods from a warehouse or hub to the final destination. Let’s elucidate with an example.

Let’s say you ordered a pair of shoes from China while sitting in Toronto. Once the order is placed, the first step is for the shoes to be picked up from a Chinese warehouse and sorted for international shipping. After leaving China, the products eventually make their way to a Canadian customs warehouse. After being scanned, they’re usually sent to a delivery hub. This is where the ‘last mile delivery’ takes place – Canada Post, for example, will pick up the shoes and deliver them to the customer’s address.
