The impact of COVID on retailers is growing. Bankruptcies are soaring, with Ascena Retail Group, parent of Ann Taylor/Lane Bryant, Tailored Brands, parent of Men’s Wearhouse/Jos. A. Bank, and Lord & Taylor most recent. Two dozen major public retailers have already filed for bankruptcy in 2020, higher than 20 for all of 2019, according to Bankruptcy-Data.com.
Stores are innovating to stay alive. Land Sea & Sky, which sells telescopes/binoculars in Houston, conducts all transactions on the sidewalk. Chloe Dao Boutique, also in Houston, now makes face masks, while disinfecting clothes and keeping them on a separate rack away from customers for 24 hours after they are tried on. Towns are closing roads so restaurants and other retailers can serve customers outside.
Innovation is everything in COVID world, but not all ideas work. Let the computer do some of the work for you. Computerized model simulation can test lots of options quickly and cost effectively, help you weed out weaker ones and double down on stronger ones. Stakes are high. Avoid mistakes and maximize chances of success. That’s what simulation is all about. MOSIMTEC is here to help.
