Amazon recently won FAA approval for its Prime Air drone delivery fleet, joining UPS/Alphabet Inc. who previously received FAA approvals. Merck teamed with Volansi in September to fly medicines/vaccines from a NC facility to a nearby health clinic. Volansi offers drone delivery for machine parts and other cargo to industrial companies and the U.S. military, and offers temperature control technology for deliveries. Their electric drone can carry 5 lbs. of cargo up to 50 miles. Walmart and Quest Diagnostics partnered with DroneUp this fall to deliver COVID test kits to homes near Las Vegas/Buffalo. DroneUp also uses drones to inspect telecom towers and is working with Walmart to explore drone delivery for pandemic response, health care and retail.
