Strong robot sales in 3Q21 brought total YTD orders to 29,000 units and $1.48B, record numbers for the North American robotics market according to the Association for Advanced Manufacturing. Labor shortages are driving many companies to add automation to stay competitive.
Metals producers, automotive components manufacturers and “all other industries” grew fastest, rising 93%, 52% and 46% in units purchased, respectively, over YTD 2020. First time robotics users grew in a wide range of industries such as automotive, agriculture, construction, electronics, food processing, life sciences, metalworking and warehousing. Non-automotive orders for YTD 2021 surpassed automotive-related orders for only the second time.
MOSIMTEC is often asked to evaluate automation initiatives and develop control algorithms, test sequencing rules, and stress-test the ‘whole system’ under various demand profiles to predict performance and identify risks/bottlenecks. Using simulation modeling to compare an autonomous mobile robot system versus adding labor while factoring in capacity, productivity, downtime, charging time, labor cost, etc. is critical to know if robots are the right fit. MOSIMTEC data scientists and industrial engineers are here to help. See here which industries, amongst others, we support: https://mosimtec.com/industries/
