Hot-tub maker Bullfrog Spas saw demand rise due to COVID, but its global supply chain is snarled. On a typical day, its UT factory gets 40,000 gallons of chemicals, 400 sheets of plastic and up to 60,000 extra components.
Electric motors from China are assembled into water pumps in Tijuana and trucked to UT. Cabinets are made in Shanghai, move by vessel to CA, then trucked. Touch screens are imported from China/Taiwan and assembled in Mexico. Water jets are made in China and imported to the supplier’s warehouse in TN via the Panama Canal/eastern ports. The supply chain has been hit by truck capacity shortages, rail bottlenecks, port shutdowns/congestion, the TX winter storm which cut chemical production, and lack of semiconductors.
Many supply chains are an intricate global ballet requiring just-in-time fluidity. Those days are gone for now. MOSIMTEC simulation modeling can help you simplify your supply chain and look at new ways to get the parts you need when you need them. Explore multiple options in a virtual environment to see what works and what doesn’t before implementing in the real world. Your supply chain doesn’t need to be a ballet, just dance to a different tune. MOSIMTEC data scientists/industrial engineers can help.
