This is a demonstration of a data-driven simulation model that replicates a Material Requirements Planning or MRP process for a manufacturing system. Simulation for supply chains can be used as a cost-effective platform to, plan finished goods delivery more effectively and use as an Integrated Business Planning or IBP tool.
This video highlights the benefits of simulating the operations at container terminals at ports. It also shows the integration of Vessels, Trucks and Rail to showcase unique challenges faced in synchronizing their activities. This simulation is valuable from a visual analytics perspective but of greatest value is the data it gathers with a very high level of confidence. The model is constantly collecting data in real-time for all of these components. This simulation model can be used for running the port under various scenarios and even testing the Master Plan.
