Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) is partnering with Windlab on a project called the North Queensland Super Hub. Energy from the project will produce green hydrogen and feed renewable power to the Australian grid. Hydrogen has a diverse range of applications and can be deployed by a wide range of industries.

FFI said the hub could generate more than 10 GW of wind/solar power and underpin industrial-scale production of green hydrogen from purpose -built facilities. The initial stage of the project will center around the development of the 800 MW Prairie Wind Farm and another 1,000 MW project. Based on approvals, construction of the first phase could begin in 2025. Green hydrogen is considered one of the most important technologies for a climate neutral world.
