Occidental is spending >$1B to build the first in a planned fleet of plants using direct-air capture to pull CO2 out of the air. The plan will help it reach net zero emissions by 2050 and allow it to keep investing in oil extraction.

Occidental has leased >400 square miles in Texas and Louisiana to trap CO2 underground and has presold carbon credits to Airbus, Shopify and BMO Financial Group. The initial plant’s fans will pull up to 500,000 metric tons of CO2 from the air per year. The company wants to build up to 135 plants by 2035 depending on public incentives and demand for carbon credits.

MOSIMTEC develops digital twins and simulation models for oil/gas companies and helps turn big ideas into action. For a chemical company, we simulated operations to support planning/construction of one of the world’s largest chemical plants in the Middle East. For a Canadian energy company, we simulated an oil/gas transload facility to improve efficiency and capacity. For a midstream oil and gas operator, we applied simulation to support understanding of the availability of multiple crude sources arriving through multiple connections on various pipelines and under various operational parameters. MOSIMTEC can help future-proof your business.
