Making intelligent decisions for pharma industry processes can be enormously challenging due to the complex matrix of interconnected systems. With advanced pharma process simulation and predictive modeling, companies can intelligently visualize and plan pharma workflows and resource deployments for improved ROI.

Pharmaceutical simulation can help in a wide range of areas: (1) Clinical trials simulation – Create clinical trial simulation models that take the guesswork out of clinical trial filing dates by simulating process and resource flows (2) Laboratory capacity analysis – Predict and balance lab operations for maximum efficiency with comprehensive lab capacity analysis capabilities while ensuring that staff, equipment, and cold storage are always available (3) Pharmaceutical production capacity analysis – Use simulation tools to develop an optimum production wheel sequencing for manufacturing multiple products simultaneously on the same production line and (4) Drug supply chain simulation – Manage various tradeoffs of both externally and internally sourced raw materials, asset capacities, and internal v. contracted manufacturing, also analyze multiple production locations and nodal transportation movements to determine the optimal product lead time.

MOSIMTEC has significant experience leveraging cutting-edge pharma process simulation and forecasting simulation to take strategic planning to the next level. Project examples include:

  • For one of the world’s largest pharma companies, we supported analysis of the supply chain and manufacturing of a new pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. This included developing a detailed dynamic simulation model to include drug substance, conjugation, drug product, packaging, and related testing and release activities as part of the global vaccine supply, to inform clinical trial testing dates, inventory levels, asset utilization, and identify potential system constraints.
  • For a global healthcare leader with key operations in Ireland, we developed a detailed laboratory simulation model to analyze laboratory equipment requirements, staff assignments, and space constraints, including cold storage, given a range of demand in terms of production batch release and stability testing.
  • For a leading global biopharma company, we developed a simulation model to represent bulk manufacturing of a specific vaccine across several sites, towards analyzing asset utilization and inventory levels and informing decision making related to allocation of future demand among assets. This project also served as proof of concept for application of simulation to the client’s global vaccine operations.

The future of pharma is being written. You need to stay ahead of the game. MOSIMTEC data scientists and industrial engineers can help you leverage the newest technology and future-proof your business.
